Buckwheat – also known as Kalinji seeds. Although this plant is rarely grown in Lithuania, it is perfect for the Lithuanian table. Use for pickling cabbage, cucumbers, baking bread. It is also added to sweet dishes: puddings, puddings, sprinkled on baked goods made from yeast dough. When added to vegetable dishes, baked goods with vegetable filling, it gives them a peculiar aroma. Try sprinkling it on watermelon!
