Putin berry jam “Red bush ruby”

Putin’s berries are often referred to as the “most valuable autumn berries”, surpassing the popular cranberries in their properties. Putin bushes, which are widespread throughout Lithuania, are found in forests, rivers, meadows and homesteads. On berry bushes, berries can stay until mid-winter.

For this jam, the berries are picked in keeping with the old traditions – after the first frosts. It is then that they lose their bitterness. The particularly specific smell of these berries does not leave you indifferent – either it will be your favorite berry, or you will give preference to others 🙂

From the flowers of the bush bush, the bark and fruit of the grandmothers and great-grandparents were used to make vitamin teas, from the fruit they were used to make jams, flavor meat dishes, make kvass and other beverages, and squeeze juices.

Putin berry jam “Red bush ruby” goes well with poultry, especially with duck, goose and turkey. Mix the jam with the jelly left in the pan after baking the bird in the oven to make a unique sauce.

Although putin berries have recently been harvested, their popularity is recovering and they are increasingly being eaten. Delicious tea can be made from putin berry jam. We recommend a few tablespoons of jam to pour hot water or tea with mint, chamomile or lime blossoms. Drink warm.
